In January 1997, when the following single to "You Must Love Me" had to be released, Madonna decided that some new dance versions of the classic Webber/Rice songs would be a good refreshing idea.

She then commissioned the remixes of the two songs chosen as US singles, Don't Cry For Me Argentina and Buenos Aires to Pablo Flores, master of latin flavoured remixes, and a close friend of Gloria Estefan and her husband, producer Emilio which gave his touch to some of the tracks of the original Evita film soundtrack.

Flores, who produced the mixes with the collaboration of his studio engineer Javier Garza, immediately realized that the "Argentina" and "Buenos Aires" mixes would come out a lot better with newly recorded vocals rather than with speeded up ones from the album versions.

So he asked Madonna if she was available to re-record the vocals in his Miami studio; she accepted and the result is the stunning "Miami Mix" of "Don't cry for me Argentina", also recorded with Spanish choruses, and the beautiful "Te Amo Mix" of "Buenos Aires".

The latter remains promo only, as the scheduled Us release of the single was cancelled by the record company soon after some promotional vinyl and cds were released to Us radios.

The "Te Amo" mix of Buenos Aires was originally named "The World Mix" and two edits on a rare german promo cd are still named that way.
Both Remixes also feature backing vocals from Madonna's long time collaborators Niki Haris and Donna De Lory.
The Spanish chorus lyrics added in the Miami remix of Don't Cry For Me Argentina are:

Chorus One:
No llores por mi Argentina
Mi alma esta' contigo
Mi vida entera te la dedico
Mas no te alejes, Te necesito

Chorus Two:
No llores por mi Argentina
Jamas yo te he abandonado
Aun que en silencio
Mi alma te grita
Hoy y por siempre
Soy Argentina.

The artwork and image chosen for the cover of the Buenos Aires single release peeps up from this sticker on a US 12" Promo Vinyl. It shows Madonna dancing with Luca Tomassini. Unfortunately the commercial release was later cancelled by Warners.

Here's a complete list of all the versions of the remixes that came out of the Madonna/Pablo Flores session. They are available on various Us and International promo and/or commercial releases.
